스튜디오 차차는 서울을 기반으로 활동하는 디자인 스튜디오로, 익숙한 소재들을 예상치 못한 방식으로 조합하여 새로운 미감을 담은 오브제와 가구를 제작한다. 소재가 지닌 기존의 이미지를 재해석함으로써, 일상적인 사물과 현상 안에서 새로운 가치를 발견하고자 한다.
유리가 흐르고 맺히는 과정에서 나타나는 자연스러운 형태, 긴장, 균형에 특히 주목하며, 소재 고유의 논리를 작업을 통해 탐구한다. 현재 램프워킹을 중심으로, 캐스팅과 퓨징 등 다양한 유리 기법을 통해 작업의 영역을 확장하고 있다.
Studio Chacha (based in Seoul) is a design studio that creates objects and furniture by combining familiar materials in unexpected ways. By reinterpreting the existing image of materials, the studio seeks to discover new values in everyday objects and phenomena through fresh visual experiences.
The studio is particularly drawn to the natural forms, tension, and balance that emerge as glass flows and gathers — tracing the material's quiet logic through its work. Currently focused on lampworking, Studio Chacha continues to expand its practice through various glass techniques including casting and fusing.
Drop Series. 2023
유리가 흘러내리며 하나의 방울로 맺히는 순간에서 출발한 작업이다. 중력과 무게, 균형에 의해 형성되는, 방울이 떨어지기 직전의 긴장된 순간을 포착한다.
소재를 완전히 통제하기보다, 뜨거운 유리가 스스로 흐르고 늘어지며 형태를 만들어내도록 한다. 이 과정에서 발생하는 두께의 변화, 투명도, 빛의 굴절은 각 작품을 구성하는 핵심 요소가 된다.
동일한 형태를 반복 생산하기보다, 각각의 작업은 흐름과 균형 속에서 미세하게 다른 형태로 완성된다. 모든 Drop 피스는 저마다의 긴장과 균형을 품고 있다.
Drop Series는 고정된 형태를 만드는 작업이 아니다. 흐르는 순간, 맺히는 순간, 그리고 떨어지기 직전의 찰나, 그 시간을 형태로 남기는 작업이다.
The Drop Series originates from the moment when molten glass flows and gathers into a droplet. The works capture the tension just before a drop falls — a moment shaped by gravity, weight, and balance.
Rather than fully controlling the material, the process allows the glass to flow, stretch, and form naturally. Variations in thickness, transparency, and light refraction become essential visual elements in each piece.
Instead of producing identical forms, each piece is created through balance and movement, resulting in similar yet subtly different shapes. Every Drop piece holds its own tension and equilibrium.
The Drop Series is not about creating a fixed form, but about capturing a moment — the moment of flowing, gathering, and just before falling.
Fluid Loop. 2026
Fluid Loop 시리즈는 유리가 지닌 본연의 유동성을 탐구하며, 물이 그리는 고요한 궤적을 쫓는다.
부드러운 선이 곡선을 그리며 스스로를 감싸 안는 루프 구조는, 흐름과 귀환이 끊임없이 이어지는 순환을 상징한다.
액체처럼 흐르는 찰나의 순간을 투명한 고체의 형태로 포착함으로써, 움직임을 정지 안에 가두어둔다. 리드미컬한 평온함과 고요한 휴식이 공간 안에 스며든다.
The Fluid Loop series explores the inherent fluidity of glass, tracing the quiet trajectories drawn by water.
Soft lines curve and fold into themselves, forming looping structures that embody a continuous cycle of flow and return. By capturing fleeting, liquid-like moments in the form of transparent solid matter, the work holds movement within stillness — introducing a rhythmic calm and a sense of quiet repose into the surrounding space.
