ACT 1: 밀도 (지하 1층)

닫힌 공간에 축적된 입자와 산란되는 빛은 물리적 밀도와 정보적 밀도를 동시에 드러낸다.

관객의 움직임을 추적하는 빛은 그 흔적을 공간에 레이어로 축적시키며, 시간이 지날수록 시야를 점진적으로 잠식한다. 이 과정은 과잉된 정보 환경 속에서 인식이 흐려지는 상태를 은유하며, 관객은 ‘밀도’를 통과하는 동시에 중첩시키는 존재로서 감각의 과부하를 경험하게 된다.

본 작품이 위치한 층에 진입하여 외부에서 작품을 바라봄으로서 높은 입자 밀도와 광량, 그로 인해 오히려 불명확한 작품과 어둡지만 선명한 외부 간의 시각적 대비감을 경험하게 된다. 작품 내부에 들어서면 자신을 추적하고 흔적을 남기는 빛과 자신의 움직임을 통해 발생하는 자연스러운 유체 흐름을 통해 공간의 밀도를 변화시키는 경험을 한다. 자신의 움직임이 공간을 변화시키는 동시에, 그 변화가 다시 시야를 방해하는 구조 속에서 관객은 점차 방향 감각을 상실하게 된다. 이 과정에서 관객은 단순한 관람자가 아니라, 공간을 구성하고 동시에 그 안에 갇히는 존재로 전환된다.

'화이트아웃'은 시야의 상실을 의미하지만, 동시에 과도한 노출의 상태이기도 하다. 너무 많은 빛은 역설적으로 아무것도 보이지 않게 만든다.

Nerdy Artist Union(NAU)의 작품 'WHITEOUT'은 짙은 안개와 산란하는 빛으로 가득 찬 공간을 통해 텍스트-이미지 과잉생산으로 포화된 동시대 정보 환경을 바라본다. 관객을 추적하는 빛은 움직임의 흔적을 하나의 데이터 레이어로서 공간에 중첩해 나간다. 관람이 지속될수록 밀도를 더해가며 순백으로 수렴하는 이 공간 속에서, 관객은 범람하는 정보와 실체 사이에서 길을 잃는 기묘한 감각을 경험하게 된다.

ACT 1: Density (B1)

Particles suspended in a closed space and scattered light reveal both physical and informational density simultaneously.

Light that tracks the visitor's movement accumulates their traces as layers within the space, gradually consuming the field of vision over time. This process serves as a metaphor for the blurring of perception within an overloaded information environment — visitors become both the ones passing through density and the ones generating it, experiencing a sensory overload in the process.

Upon entering the floor where the work is installed, visitors first encounter it from the outside: the high density of particles and intense light create a visual contrast between the indistinct interior and the darker yet sharply defined exterior. Stepping inside, visitors experience the space's density shifting through light that tracks and traces their movement, and through the natural fluid currents their bodies generate.

As their movement transforms the space, that transformation in turn obscures their own vision — a self-reinforcing structure in which the visitor gradually loses their sense of direction. In this process, the visitor ceases to be a mere observer and becomes something else entirely: a presence that simultaneously constructs the space and is confined within it.

‘Whiteout’ signifies a loss of vision, but it is also a state of overexposure. Too much light paradoxically makes everything invisible.

Inspired by the ‘whiteout’ phenomenon—where light scattering in dense fog causes a loss of orientation—the Nerdy Artist Union (NAU)'s artwork WHITEOUT reflects on the contemporary information environment, which is saturated by the overproduction of texts and images.

A light that tracks the audience superimposes the traces of their movements into the space as an information layer. As the viewing continues, this layer increases in density, gradually eroding the field of vision into white. Within this space, the audience directly experiences a state where it becomes difficult to distinguish between what is information and what is essence.
